Düsseldorf - On June 4 this year, the Düsseldorf race course at Grafenberg will be the focus of German flat racing enthusiasts. For the first time, Henkel's German Oaks will be held in Düsseldorf. This European Group I race for fillies used to be called the "Deutsches Stuten-Derby um den Preis der Diana" and is one of the most highly regarded German classic horse races for thoroughbreds. The Oaks enjoys high international regard. It is restricted to three-year-old fillies and is run over a distance of 2200 meters. The latest two versions of this classic were held in Hamburg.
Ulrich Lehner, Chairman of the Management Board of Henkel KGaA, and Peter Endres, President of the Düsseldorfer Reiter- und Rennvereins (DRRV), have now signed the contract. Lehner: "A race meeting of this quality is an event for the people of Düsseldorf and the many lovers of flat racing throughout the world. And for us it is still another manifestation of our understand of Corporate Citizenship."
The "Internationaler Henkel-Renntag der Diana" is one of the leading flat race events in Germany, together with the German Derby in Hamburg. Visitors to the Düsseldorf race meeting will enjoy world class racing. Many top horses are expected to be present at the Grafenberg course.
Henkel has sponsored horse racing for many years, and for the last 9 years it has organized the traditional "Henkel-Renntag," a Group II meeting. With the "Internationaler Henkel-Renntag der Diana," Henkel has expanded its involvement in flat racing still further. Since 2003, the brand manufacturer has been sponsoring the "Henkel Trial - Düsseldorfer Stutenpreis." This race traditionally marks the start of the racing season at the Düsseldorf Grafenberg course. True to the motto "Henkel - A Brand like a Friend," all of the spectators are Henkel's guests and have free entry.
