125 children's projects worldwide
To mark its 125th anniversary, Henkel has been supporting 125 children’s projects worldwide with a contribution of up to 12,500 euros each. The special feature is that Henkel employees are active as volunteers in these projects and as “personal ambassadors” of the Company. The MIT (“Make an Impact on Tomorrow”) program, which was established by Henkel in 1998, inspired the project.
On December 5, 2001, International Volunteer Day, the Company conducted an initial review of the projects which have been supported in over 50 countries.
More than 10,000 children and young people all over the world have received help. The campaign was focused especially on Africa, India, and the Asian-Pacific region, which accounted for about half of the children who were supported. More than 4,000 children, including many street children, profited from social programs aimed at education and care. Within the health category, at least 3,700 children worldwide were helped, while an additional 1,300 children were supported through construction and renovation measures. Additional emphases were in the areas of art and culture, free-time activities and sports, as well as nature and environmental protection.
